About the Book

The core of the space ship, PS Pauline, with its records intact, was found in an archaeological dig at the now-famous site of Charlottetown. The ship was one of a number which departed Earth in the year 2079 AD with the mission to people space (PS). Its crew immediately suffered a flesh-eating bacterial attack, perhaps intended by authorities, leaving them all without legs. After an indefinite period, estimated from the ship's log as approximately 0.8 billion Earth years, the ship returned. Almost all of this time was spent in a state of frozen sleep, and some of the original crew members were still on board. These people, together with their children and grandchildren, are the ancestors of all human beings on Earth today. A wealth of data exists on the settlement at Charlottetown and the dispersion of humanity therefrom, but the voyage of the PS Pauline could not until now be described.
