About the Author

Balkrishna Maharagh Naipaul was born in Trinidad and educated at London where he read History, Economics and International Relations. He migrated to Canada in 1968 and lived in Saskatchewan where he worked as an educator before leaving to serve as the permanent representative of Development Educators for World Peace at the United Nations. During that time, a period of some fifteen years, he consulted with world leaders in most parts of the world. In 1985 he founded the international tabloid, Global Times, which he edited until 1994. Since then he has devoted his entire time to the writing of fiction.
