About the Author

Winnie Meagher Donoghue was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She attended Barnard College where she majored in Creative Writing. Upon graduating from Barnard she married Ed Donoghue, a doctor, and moved to Rochester, Minnesota with him. There she raised five children, continued to write for pleasure, and held a Creative Writing workshop for the inmates of the Federal Prison for Men in Rochester.When her husband retired they became Florida residents, moving to Sanibel Island, Florida. In 1984 she founded a writers’ group, the Island Writers, which started with ten members. The Island Writers continues to be active. It now has four groups and approximately forty members.
