About the Book
It was the year of 1866. Nine-year-old girl, Jia came to America to escape from the hardships in China. America was supposed to be a place where everybody could have a happy abundant life. But was America really a dreamland for the little Chinese girl? This book visibly shows the young readers a page of our history. It covers how much the New Americans struggled to build a better life. Jia faces many unwanted events in the new land, but her courage triumphs. Even when it seems that Jia has lost everything, she pulls through, always believing that her Dancing Dragon would protect her.
About the Author
Born in Germany and grown up in America. Billian has Korean and moody blue blood. She was a straight A+ student all the time and two times New York State winner from over 50,000 participants for visual arts in the Reflections Program. Despite receiving many awards being a perfect student is not her satisfaction. Desire to do more led her to the way of being a writer, publishing her first novel at age 15. She loves travel, good food, and her dogs, Lumi and Posh. When she has time, she writes, paints, practices martial arts, and takes pictures. She shares her time in NY and PA.
