About the Author

Elda Unger, Bio Elda Unger, MA, ATR, is an art therapist, artist, and musician. She is the former director of art therapy at the Pine Grove Psychiatric Hospital and was the president of the Southern California Art Therapy Association. Elda is a founding board member of Free Arts For Abused Children, a thirty year old non-profit that provides creative volunteers to work with abused and at risk children nationwide. She has served as vice-president and president of the organization for fourteen years and, since its formation, had been chairperson of its national expansion committee. She was the recipient of The Special Award by the County of Los Angeles to Promote Self-Esteem. Her articles have appeared in numerous professional journals and books and she has lectured extensively on the healing effects of the arts. She has also appeared before the U.S. Senate Children’s Caucus on behalf of abused children. She lives with her husband in Los Angeles County, California.
