A planet far away across the universe is totally destroyed by a series of asteroids. The planet was destroyed in cataclysm of flame but much of the detritus that remained form a huge cloud that was soon making its own way through the stars. The inhabitants of the planet had long anticipated this event and had fled into space to search for a new home. Their technology was such that it would have been possible to save the planet but it had not been deemed worthwhile. The planet had been mined of all its useful raw materials and its atmosphere was grossly polluted. They had conquered space travel years before so they had taken to space in search of a new home…
About the Author
William Brown P.E. (Bill) was born in England. After graduating from college he started work in his chosen profession – aerospace. After serving an apprenticeship and being acknowledged as a top expert in the field of non-metallic materials, he came to the USA in 1967, as part of Europes’ so called “Brain Drain”. He retired in 2000 after working for 46 years in the industry. Involved in boy Scouts since the early 1940’s in England and in the USA. He earned the award of King’s Scout (the equivalent of the American Eagle Scout). His hobbies include writing, stamp collecting, and drawing. He lives with his wife Sheila and their Cairn Terrier, in Lancaster, California. They have two children, Stephen and Phillipa, and their families.
