Father Peter Obinna Umekwe hails from Umuode Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa LGA, Abia State, Nigeria. He was born on May 25, 1968 to Mrs. Elizabeth Janet Umekwe and Late Chief Nicholas Umekwe. A priest of the Catholic Diocese of Aba, Nigeria. Ordained on July 14, 2001. In his studies he has HND in Mass Communication, B.A. in philosophy, B.A. in theology, M.A. in pastoral communication, and Certificate in Italian Language. In his journalism career, he has been the Deputy Editor of Thinker Magazine, Bigard Enugu, (1995); Editor-in-Chief of Torch Magazine, Bigard Enugu, (2000-2001); and Editor-in-Chief of the Rex Newspaper, Aba Diocese, (2001-2006). In his pastoral assignments, he has been a Parochial Vicar, CKC Aba, (2001-2006); Communications Director, Aba Diocese (2001-2006); Co-Vocations Director, Aba Diocese, (2006), and presently, he is the Administrator of St. John Parish Condon, Oregon since 2007.
