About the Book

R. Wolfgang Schramm has created three science-fiction-style Sherlock Holmes stories in the Conan Doyle manner. Although a work of fiction, Schramm has made every effort to remain true to the historical facts in each of these three narratives. What actually happened is left as an exercise for the reader to determine, for history is not necessarily what happened but what has been recorded; thus, what is contained in these works is only one possible version of the truth. Even though Holmes and Watson are fictional characters, these stories in which they play a part are not without validity since they are based on actual facts, and Holmes’s methods of problem solving mirror our modern use of the scientific method in the sciences and in criminal investigation. The Apocryphal Cases of Sherlock Holmes is lavishly illustrated. It contains 20 sketches by Artist Anne Foreman that literally bring the characters to life.

About the Author

Robert W. Schramm is an emeritus professor of nuclear physics and retired senior lecturer of fine art photography from West Liberty University. He has had a life-long interest in airships and Sherlock Holmes. He has authored four previous books:, i.e., photographic histories of West Liberty State College, The Linsly School, The City of Moundsville and Wheeling Island. Schramm maintains a photographic studio in West Liberty, West Virginia, where he specializes in fine art photography using alternative process techniques such as daguerreotype, chrysotype, uranotype and platinotype and lives with his beloved wife, Jeanne, and three black cats.
