About the Author

Ms. Meeks is a retired elementary school counselor who has worked with students in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia. Books have always been a part of her life, and she often used them in helping children to develop a sense of themselves and others. At long last, she has realized a dream of her own. The result is this little story inspired by true events. She hopes to encourage others to discover the joy of “adopting” homeless animals. Ms. Meeks lives in Watkinsville, Georgia, with her husband Ken and the real-life Riley and Smidgeon.
