About the Book
WARNING: This book contains sex and violence and is not recommended for children, and was written for the entertainment of young adults. (old adults can read it, too) The Nessius Odyssey Book 1 Prelude To Destiny Prelude to Destiny is the first book in a set of four that chronicles the lives of the various characters. It contains a Forward, four parts, and an Epilogue. The Forward gives the reader a short history of the world of Nessius. If the reader sees parallels between our Earth and Nessius it is because Nessius is a parallel of Earth that took a different path in the far past. For Nessius it was a devastating path that cast them back into a second Stone Age. The atomic wars resulted in mutations of the human genes and the results were three dominate, and a multitude of lesser surviving races. The reader will recognize these characters from our own folklore; dwarves, elves, orcs, goblins, trolls etc. (There is also a small colony of alien Dragons considered as a myth by the local population) But ten thousand years ago, another race rose among the human population called by some, The Elite, and by others as The Master Breed. The gene mutations gave them extreme mental powers, and for five thousand years they ruled the other races of Nessius. Then five thousand years ago from the present point of our story, they took all the gifted Elite and millions of slaves and left Nessius to conquer the stars. They planned on coming back for any new Elite that might arise among the population they left behind. To ensure that they would still be there when their masters returned, the Elite surrounded the planet with an impenetrable energy net. Those left behind were with out technical support to keep the wheels of a modern society turning, and the world collapsed into a third Stone Age. That third Age was prolonged when a comet crashed into the sun and caused tidal waves and earthquakes. At this point in their history they have risen to a medieval state. Cultures and folklore will be recognizable as coming from our own past. But all is not doom and gloom for these hardy souls, for a natural phenomenon arose from the heart of the plagued planet. The Aura of Magic. And there arose a part of the multiple population who could tap into that aura and perform the most amazing feats. Part One is titled The Comet. The comet is really a ship that carries an alien race called Quantumites. They are pure mental-energy entities whose sole function in their own universe is to record the histories of the civilizations of corporeal, sentient beings in the local galaxies. Their passage into Nessius’ universe is purely by accident. An unknown power (?)has cause their ship to race out of control at such speeds as to rip through the dividing layers of the parallel planes. They ultimately crash into the sun, destroying part of their ship before being sent careening out into space once more. As the destroyed part of the ship hurtles into the void, two of the alien entities survive by seizing onto the web of force that surrounds the planet. Part one, The Comet, is from the point of view of one of the aliens, Ma’alin. He dwells in the positive charged grid of the Elite’s power shield. Resigned to a life of exile, he studies the planet and its people. He discovers the mages and wizards who tap the power of the magical aura of the planet. Over the eons he develops a kinship with the mages, though they are unaware of his presence. The prime directive of his people does not allow interference with any civilization. He watches the mages being abused because of ignorance and envy from those who do not have the gift. Then, out of compassion and moral indignation, he breaks the code of non interference to save the lives of three mages. Of course he does this without revealing himself or causing harm to the antagonists by using the power of the magical aura. From that point on he is committed to aiding those mages who use their g
