About the Book
The story of survival of a huge, mega-earthquake in the Los Angeles area involves one family and how they are able to prepare and cope with a myriad of problems and challenges. The tale involves many ethical and moral dilemmas, which arise throughout the entire story. Also included are the numerous recommendations and suggestions of how to prepare for the worst case scenarios, far more deadly than those depicted by the various governmental agencies responsible for the ultimate rescue of the civilian victims. The maxim is basically to anticipate the largest degree of catastrophe possible, prepare for same and, if conditions are less then predicted, survival will be accomplished more easily. The fictional content is sprinkled, generously, with ideas, thoughts and suggestions as to how to effectively deal with a tremendous natural disaster. Remember, it’s not if this will happen, it’s only a matter of when.
About the Author
Robert L. Wilson MD is a California licensed specialist physician who lives in the Los Angeles area and has experienced multiple earthquakes of varying magnitude. He obtained his medical degree from the University of California in San Francisco, then completed a rotating internship at San Francisco General Hospital and finally finished his radiology residency & fellowship training (4 years) at L.A. County-USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Wilson has spent considerable time in the U.S. military, first in the U.S Air Force as an instructor in airborne weapons control systems and then as a physician in the Active U.S. Army Reserves, Medical Corps. His non-medical training includes Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in physics as well as various extension courses in the art of writing. His undergraduate training was done at Stanford University while his graduate schooling was done at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He has also spent an enormous amount of time in the wilderness, mostly of northern Canada and Alaska. This time is divided between a remote wilderness cabin and long hunting trips into the interior of North America. Much of his training and experiences are incorporated into this interesting story. He has also lectured extensively on how to plan for and survive a mega-earthquake, in which the rescue efforts are at least weeks away and the destruction is monumental, just like in this story. He is married and has three grown children. His children have also spent time in the wilderness learning how to live with wild animals.
