About the Book

In these images I try to capture some of the ironies and idiosyncrasies of contemporary life. In this work I feel most closely in tune with the sensibilities of contemporary photographers Elliot Erwitt and Lee Friedlander, and, of course, of Henri Cartier-Bresson. Some are funny, generally unintentionally, some are sad, and some are both. Some tell a story, or you can make up a story – I don’t usually inquire. Some are puzzling. Occasionally they can be intentionally funny. While obviously subject matter is of primary importance I try to make the images formally interesting.
