About the Book

Katherine Has a Ball is the second book in The Three Sisters’ series. With an educational bent, this series is geared for readers with a spirit of adventure, travel, independence and old-fashioned fun.

In The Three Sisters: Katherine Has a Ball, middle-sister Katherine, a “soccer star,” joins Elizabeth in Paris because France has just won the soccer World Cup. They go to visit their aunt who is the American Ambassador to France. For better or worse, the aunt otherwise occupied so the girls are tended to by her energetic and food-loving staff. The “staff” consists of Doodle (short for “Yankee Doodle,” the French-American standard poodle), Madame de Sigy (the trusty bespectacled housekeeper) and Monsieur Duquette (the responsible chauffeur/guide/friend). In auntie’s absence, Elizabeth, Katherine and Doodle go on a fun-filled journey through the City of Light all the while chasing a rolling soccer ball. They follow “The Soccer Trail” amidst famous monuments, parks and gardens in their effort to find the ball.

In Katherine Has a Ball, the reader is brought along on an adventurous journey and learns many interesting facts about French history, culture, geography, food and language. Foreign language is introduced in a fun manner as each book contains a peppering of French and a “Dictionnaire” to learn and pronounce French “with care” and the required “Parisian flare.
