About the Book

Have you ever been in a situation where no matter what you do or where you go, the odds are against you? Have you ever had your most private possessions along with your freedom, self-respect, and selfesteem taken away from you? It seems that there’s nothing you can do about it while the only people that can help you, won’t help you. Destiny Pride Hayes is only twelve years old and is living a nightmare. She is silently crying for help, but no one can hear her. Destiny fi nally gains the courage to tell someone verbally and it makes no difference. After crying, praying, and hoping for a miracle, Destiny decides that something has to be done or her “real-life” nightmare will never end. With no one to help, save, or protect her, Destiny fi nds that she is all alone. She doesn’t give up because she refuses to lose. While fi ghting to get away from one problem, she runs into another. With nowhere to go and no one to turn to, Destiny fi nds herself in a cold world all alone. She tries to fi nd a way to fi ght back mentally, but when it does not seem to work, Destiny decides to fi ght fi re with fi re. What she does will shock you!

I am a single parent that has struggled to get by most of my life. I have learned to appreciate the struggles I have gone through because it has made me who I am today. Although you may have heard that nothing was done for me, given to me, or handed to me on a silver platter, I must admit that those circumstances have molded me into a strong woman. Throughout the trials and tribulations that I have encountered even at an early age, I've always known that there was a better world out there for me. Through prayer and my strong belief in Jesus Christ my Lord, He has helped me to overcome obstacles that would have otherwise left the average person defeated and out for the count for all eternity. I feel that now is my time to show the world, my family, and myself how all those negative experiences can and has been turned into positive ones. I know my experiences and my imagination will benefit someone somewhere. I am a strong believer in the saying, "Each one, Teach one!"

I am currently attending South Suburban College working towards a degree in Human Services. It is my goal to teach others who have been abused to know that they can regain their life and live it to the fullest. I also want to help them cope with their abuse. I want them to know that they can turn their situation into something positive, not just for themselves, not just for their children, but for the world to see.
