About the Author
Mike Francois is a social worker who advocates for individuals with developmental disabilities. He has a wealth of experience in social service and a passion to serve people with intellectual disabilities, formally mental retardation. He believes this population of people is commonly misunderstood because of inappropriate labels, physical features, and low functioning level. If all persons would be judged according to limitations or inadequacies, then we all could fall in the category of abnormality. As it relates to this population, there are often deficiencies with providing inclusion and normalization. Therefore, as an advocate, he is committed to ensure that all individuals of this population receive fair and equal treatment.
