About the Book

About the Author

Being a Minister of the Lord has given me great rewards in my life. I am also an artist of the famous paintings at Mulate’s Restaurant which is located in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. The book of 8647 Candy Street is not only about my families past, but it is about shaping our future of today. What I would like for each reader to leave with upon completing this book is that there is a true God that still lives and watches over us even if we don’t see his prints in the sand. For so many years I was ashamed to tell my story, but now I have the courage to speak about all the secrets that was hidden in our home. I pray and hope that (you the reader) will be able to relate our trials to your trails, as well. Wives, husbands and children must believe that this too shall come to pass. In the Bible, in the book of Job it tells us how Job went through many trials, only because the Lord was bragging on him to Satan. So we must keep in mind that the Lord is bragging on those who are going through painful situations but still believe in him. The Bible also says that, “All things work together for the good for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.” You are called according to his purpose if you believe in him or not. I pray that (you the reader) will not only walk but live the two greatest commandments and that is, “To Love God” and “Love your Neighbors as You Love Yourself.” With great thanks, Rev. James L. Brooks
