It seems as though Macey Mallae has the perfect life--precious children, a comfortable apartment in a safe neighborhood, and a husband so wonderful that any woman would be honored to have him for a spouse. But oh how easy it is for one to make assumptions. The couple may appear to have the ideal marriage, but nobody is able to witness the misery, which goes on behind their closed doors. When Macey and Darryl Baxter move into the townhomes of Rise Veranda, Darryl becomes the complex´s maintenance supervisor, and life for his family improves tremendously. The older man, however, captures the heart of a young beautiful tenant, Ashton, who envies the relationship that he and his wife share. She wants so badly to confess her feelings to him, but fear, shame, and selflessness keep her from doing so. That is, until she finds out that Darryl himself is also keeping secrets of his own--secrets that threaten to destroy his marriage, reputation, and the innocent girl´s sanity. After tragedy forces him to skip town, Ashton is left desperately seeking to locate the supervisor so that she can finally reveal her true feelings to him. The challenging task of finding a way to reach the man becomes her number one priority and a life mission. But through the process of talking with Darryl´s friends, seeking out information on the Internet, and distinguishing certain events with her own two eyes, she realizes that the man she fell in love with is not who she thought he was.

About the Author

Ashley was born and currently resides in Columbia, South Carolina, where she stays with her grandmother and aunt. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and continues to excel in her studies at Midlands Technical College. She plans on transferring to USC where she will obtain a bachelor’s degree in journalism and maintain her career as an author.
