About the Author

William Hamilton is a Protestant radical theologian. He was born inn Evanston, Illinois, and that means two things. He is fated to be a Chicago Cubs fan, and he was first captured by Shakespeare at the Globe Theater at the 1933-34 Chicago World’s Fair. College at Oberein, then Navy (communications with Germany) and graduate study at Princeton, Ohio Theological Seminary and the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where he did not play gold. He was taught in the fields of religion, literature, and intellectual history in New York, Florida and Oregon. He has written a dozen books and dozens of articles. His most recent books include Melville and the Gods, The Search for the Post Historical Jesus, and Shakespeare, God, & Me. He lives in Oregon with his wife, Mary Jean, a former member of the New York City Ballet Company.
