About the Book
The Biblical Book of Hosea describes the prophet Hosea’s love and forgiveness for his adventurous wife Gomer. However, in the 2700 years since Hosea lived and preached, Gomer has never given her version of an obviously complicated relationship and marriage. Here she speaks out after centuries of silence, telling of love and betrayal, adventure and self-sacrifice that lead, ultimately, to redemption, though Gomer’s rendition of events differs markedly from that found in the Old Testament. Was Gomer an unfaithful wife or prostitute, or a woman wrongfully condemned, her reputation and name ruined for all time?
About the Author
Born the same year as wild Lila Rupert and staid Petranella Funk, Celia Crotteau, like her fictional characters, attended a convent-run boarding school for girls. Students held one particular nun in awe, and about that daunting individual uncorroborated rumors and stories swirled. Although long dead, she continues to serve as a nexus between alumnae when they gather to remember their school days. It is on her still prevailing influence, and memories both happy and sad, that this work of fiction is based.
