About the Cover
My son loves seeing icons from his birth country but he is particularly fond of the Russian flag. In designing the cover, I thought about the excitement Dmitri shows each time he sees something with his flag and the joy other children will experience from seeing their birth country flag on the cover of their new book.

The cover consists of flags from 30 countries around the world. Starting at the top of the cover, going from left to right, the countries are:

First Row: Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Costa Rica, Burundi, Haiti, South Korea and Columbia.

Second Row: Mexico, Philippines, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Tajikistan, China and Ghana.

Third Row: Russia and United States of America.

Fourth Row: Kazakhstan, Uganda, Vietnam, Ukraine, Liberia, Poland and Brazil.

Fifth Row: Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Thailand, Jamaica, Taiwan, Rwanda and North Korea.

About the Author

Dr. Kelly A. Wood has a doctorate degree in clinical psychology. Her proudest moment was when she and her husband, Keith, became adoptive parents of their beloved son, Dmitri. Adoption! A Family They Did Become was originally written by Kelly for Dmitri as a poem that chronicled the Wood’s adoption journey. The inspiration to turn the poem into a children’s book came when Dmitri wanted to share his poem with all adopted children. They hope you enjoy it as much as they do.
