This is a fun children's picture book, which adults can easily relate too and enjoy with their children. It helps children of a early age to realise that bugs are all around and hopefully teaches them something about bugs habitats and there is no real need to fear bugs. But also to be aware that some bugs can be harmful to them. I have used the word Bugs loosely in this book and this needs to be taken into account when considering this book. Some of the creatures I have used are not true Bugs, but are generally considered as Bugs or Insects by the general public. An example of this is my use of spiders, which are not true Bugs.

About the Author

Named Peter Richards, I grew up in South Australia, until I moved to the Upper Hunter, New South Wales, in my early twenties. I live with my loving spouse, May, and four children, Kelly-Anne, Matthew, Patrick, and Sophie-Lee. They all support my writing and help with new story ideas. In my childhood, I would catch spiders and keep them in jars, hidden in the shed from my mother. Every day I would catch flies and other bugs to feed them. One day my mother found them and told me to get rid of them but I didn’t. I found a new hiding place: under my bed.

Bugs Bugs Bugs Everywhere There Are Bugs is written and illustrated by Peter Richards. This is a story of everyday life and shows lots of scenarios where bugs might be encountered. Putting out the garbage, getting the mail, going for a walk, patting a dog. Almost everywhere you go and everything you do is where you will encounter bugs of some description. Even going to the toilet can lead to an encounter so always check the toilet, for if a bug might bite your bottom you could end up going to see the doctor. With dogs there might be fleas, with beds there might be bed bugs, with flowers there might be bees, and spiders lurk everywhere.
Bugs. Children either love them or hate them, but whichever it might be they will love this simple story. It is clear the author, Peter Richards, lives in Australia where bugs are probably more of a nuisance than in some places, but we all have to contend with annoying insects at some stage. The illustrations are simple yet colourful and amusing and add fun to the story. Children will enjoy this book, especially the part about going to the toilet and being bitten on the bottom. I think this book will encourage children to write their own stories about bugs, and anything that will get children writing or get their imagination working is a plus. This would make a good addition to a classroom where the teacher could expand on types of insects and turn the book into a great lesson."
