This book of poems is about heartbreak, the heartbreak of being in love with someone whose love was just out of reach. It made no difference if we were on opposite sides of the earth or sitting across from each other at a candlelit table; her love was always just out of reach. You ask yourself why he would torture himself in such a way. My answer would be, if you knew her like I did, that question would never even enter your mind.
