About the Book

“Wake Up God” is the story of a little pilgrim and his puppy and their journey to find God. The little pilgrim meets the wise old monk who shows him that God has many hiding places and can be found in creation and also deep within the human heart. Using prayer of the heart, he invites the little pilgrim to journey to his heart cave, where God dwells. Together they embark upon the path of prayer to get to know God.

About the Author

Carol Fowler lives in Truckee, California, with her husband and golden retriever. She is a mother of five children and grandmother of twelve. She has a master’s degree in pastoral studies. In her years of teaching, retreat work, hospital chaplaincy, and prison ministry, she became aware of young people’s need and desire to not only know about God but to also have an experiential awareness of God in their lives. Drawing from the insights of the early Christian monks and their contribution to the contemplative prayer tradition, she invites children to accompany the little pilgrim on his personal quest to find God. Using the lens of photography and the ancient contemplative prayer, prayer of the heart, children can journey with the little pilgrim to seek and find God deep within their hearts.
