About the Author

G. de Jesus worked several years teaching for the Department of Education of New York. She is a member of United Federation of Teachers and New York State United Teachers. She received a master’s degree in supervision and administration, a master’s degree in elementary curriculum on education from City College of New York, and a BA in science with concentration in early childhood at Mercy College in Westchester County of New York. G. de Jesus received an award from El Diario la Prensa as one of the Spanish newspaper’s fifty outstanding Latinas in the year 2001 for community services and for promoting the pride of her culture, and also an award from a principal in a public school for excellence Exemplary Service and Dedication. She loves to travel around the world to enrich her life with different ethnic groups.
