About the Book

Without Permission: Life in Ministry II is an autobiography of my journey as an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church from the years 2000 through 2019. As a womanist theologian like many before me, I have thrived even in the midst of challenges. My race, gender, and class in a society that views me differently have provided great learning experiences. I have met many people along the journey who each had a part in shaping me and my ministry. I count every encounter as one which enhances my spiritual growth and development. The measure of my success is not in the size of a church, position, nor of material goods but in my faithfulness and obedience to the call of God to preach.
