1000 Word Excerpt
There is a Balance in the Universe. The universe is one big balance scale. Balance is intertwined with every aspect of our lives. Balance is everywhere, in everything, and operating at every level. Everything is balanced by everything else. Things happen in the universe for a reason, and when something happens in one part of the universe it reverberates in other parts of the universe. Everything has consequences. The scales of the universe sometimes tip to the left and sometimes tip to the right but remain essentially in balance. That’s the law that controls everything in the universe. There is also rhythm in the universe: the way we breathe, the way our hearts beat, the way the waves hit the beach, the way the moon effects the tide, the way the planets rotate round and round the sun, the way the moon rotates around planets and so on. What goes up must come down; what goes in must come out; and what you initiate will come back to you. There are no accidents.
Maintaining a balance. We can see an indicator of this in such statements as, what goes around comes around, and for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. We can further detect this balance by the fact that if we overeat, we will likely gain weight. Most people are fat because they overeat. A slice of pie won’t hurt you, but don’t eat the whole pie. Don’t drink the whole bottle of alcohol, and even if you do don’t make it a habit. Too much of anything will harm us. We must seek moderation. What happens in one part of the universe effect everything in all other parts of the universe—regardless of circumstances. A balanced universe is circular, every point is both the beginning and the end, and every point contains all points. There is no Almighty God to punish us for our transgressions, only such a Balance in the Universe.
Balance in nature. There is a balance between the sun’s gravitational forces pushing in and nuclear forces pushing out. There is balance among the stars, planets, galaxies, and Solar System. Balance exists between the streams, lakes, rivers, and oceans. The ecosystem is in balance. Nature is in balance. There is a balance in the human body. Our lives, bodies, souls, and conscious minds are all in a balance-scale system. We keep a balance when we walk, and fluids of the human system are usually in balance; when they get out of balance we die.
Negative vibrations. There is a Balance in the Universe such that things don’t always come back to us in the same manner as the vibrations we send out to others. You may disrespect someone, and at some point, you may come down with unbearable pain in your arm. If you disrespect and dishonor your parents, be careful your children don’t treat you in similar ways. If you commit adultery with a man’s wife, you better be careful that it doesn’t happen to you. One individual had hurt a lot of people in his day. Before he died, he was in the hospital with excruciating pain that the doctors had no explanation for, and nothing they gave him seemed to relieve the pain. He lay there and wished for death, day after day. Bobby Blue Bland had a song that said, “If you hurt someone, someone’s gonna hurt you.” Such is the nature of the Balance in the Universe.
Gambling odds. There is a Balance in the Universe, such that a percentage of the time you win and a percentage of the time you lose. The old saying says: sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, is very real. It all balances out. They say life is a gamble. The odds in life can sometimes be like the odds in a casino: sometimes you win big, and sometimes you lose big. Nobody is on top all the time or on the bottom all the time. The Balance in the Universe sometime takes something off the front end and places it on the back to lighten our load. But we must all endure certain experiences.
Pecking order. The universe is well-ordered. There is a time and place for everything. Everything has a position in the pecking order. If elements and forces are left to their own device a pecking order will naturally be established. The question always comes up, how could the universe be created with such magnificent splendor without a supernatural force having created it? What we see is part of a Balance in the Universe. The Earth was created out of chaos and brought to order; it was created by chance. There was an explosion in the universe and what resulted was a natural order. This Balance in the Universe is a natural order in the universe that resulted from a tendency toward synthesis. Everything in the universe is in balance and harmony. When things get out of balance there is a natural tendency to bring them back into balance. Traditional belief in a supernatural, omnipotent, external force is a myth. People should believe in themselves and their brothers, and not in a supernatural creator of the universe. Even in the Bible it tells us to treat our brothers and our neighbors with respect. There are those who believe, nothing but an intelligent designer could have created this Balance in the Universe. My theory is that there was no designer, the universe simply evolved over time
A number of whys. Why are some people in church not blessed as well as others? Why do positive people die or have bad luck? We’ve often wondered why babies die at birth, are born deformed, or sometimes die young? Why do we have earthquakes and other natural disasters? Why do so-called bad people tend to get many advantages? Why does God allow wars, death, famine, and pestilence? Why does God allow love ones to die?
