“Spirits protect this home and all who live under this roof when I am unable to protect them myself.” Replacing the panel, I traced the same pattern on it right above the one on the beam before putting my palm over them both and pushing them into the wood hiding them both from view if anyone other than someone who knew what they were looking for were to study this wall. “Well, that is done time to go do what I planned on doing to protect this village. We call it home and I will do so even if the village itself is gone as long as this house stands the village can be rebuilt no matter what happens. I will not allow the Western Slayers Village to die just as I will not allow the Western Wolf tribe to die. Even if they wish death upon me both are my home, and I will do what I must to keep both safe.” Behind me, my sword pulsed making me smile one more time. It was almost like the sword was talking to me when it pulsed, but I could not be sure sometimes. It was Michael’s sword and I had never planned on keeping it but now it was mine to take care of since its owner passed away. Turning I picked it up and fastened the belt around my hips making sure that it was secure in its sheath before heading out the door closing it behind me with a soft click that seemed to echo through the empty house. Even though it was really just a piece of metal it was a comfort to me. There was something about it that made me think it had a life of its own and could think for itself and could chose the one it called master. For some reason it had chosen me to be its next master even though Michael was much stronger than me. It would be with me to the end of my life no matter how long my life ended up being in the end I would have this sword by my side, and that was enough for me to be able to do what I needed to do. Michael had left it with me, and I was going to take care of it as a symbol of the memory that I had of the three of them. “Let’s get this over with.”
