Standing before her was a creature unlike any she had ever seen. It stood on four legs that were covered with thick yellow and black fur. Its head was large and its eyes were huge. What appeared to be fangs grew out of its mouth and a sticky substance dripped from it. Those eyes stared at Sarah but she also saw a beautiful quality abou them. They were the color of the sun, with red, orange and yellow flecks throughout. As the creature watched her she thought she saw its eyes soften and appear to show kindness. For a few seconds Sarah thought she recognized them. But the creature was scary and she wasn't sure what its next move would be. Standing her ground, Sarah slowly bent down to pick up a stick. She lifted it as if to strike but the creature stepped back, turned and ran off into the forest. Its stride was quick and sure and then it was gone. Sarah sat down on the path and realized she was shaking. So this was the monster that was terrorizing the forest folk. No wonder they were so frightened. She sat for a long time and waited to calm down. She looked toward the place where the creature had disappeared. Where did it go and why was it here? And why did she suddenly feel ill?

She lives in a rural area of southern New Jersey with her husband of 53 years, has 3 grown children and 2 delightful grandsons. Dolores is the oldest of six siblings and has a huge Italian family that spans a few generations.
