RAINBOWS AND GIRAFFES contains two stories as different as French toast and chocolate pudding. In the first story, A RAINBOW SAIL, Nancy Butterkitten is sad because she has just lost a spelling bee and feels she is now only second-best. To cheer her up, Lucky, the boy next door, with his dog Frank at his side, decides she needs an adventure. In fact, they all do. A lost parrot named Bongo leads them out of the woods to exactly the right spot for the most astonishing adventure they’ve ever had. In the second tale, THE DOOR OF SECRETS, Lucy is driven wild because her big sister Charlotte has taken to rushing mysteriously into her bedroom and locking the door behind her. What could she be up to? Lucy knows only that Charlotte is hiding something wonderful! Lucy finds out Charlotte’s secret and is overjoyed at the outcome.

Lee Meagher is a writer and editor who lives in New York City. She has published one adult novel, LIES ARE THE DEVIL’S CANDY, but has always been fascinated by children’s books. She has published two, ROLLO AND TOODLES and NANCY BUTTERKITTEN, HER STORIES, and enjoyed writing them so much that she has now produced a third: RAINBOWS AND GIRAFFES.
