About the Book
I have been writing poetry since my creative writing class in high school, 1976. My inspiration
comes from all the people that i have admired for many years. In the late 1960’s, came the “black
panther party” from those memories I wrote “the power of two voices”. Malcolm x, after reading his
last interview with playboy at www.malcolmxonline.com (circa 1963) it helped me to understand him as
a person ,father and what being a Muslim meant. Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Eric
Wright, Christopher Wallace, and “bootsie” just my way of honoring them as individuals. But
after hearing “pretty wings” Maxwell could not be left out. Everything else came from my own
imagination. Besides my mother and sister have always said that” my brother Rodney and I, sure
can talk… but! Knowledge is power. Last but not least, The poem “tattoos” is for anyone that has
placed a name on their body. But family names out of love, displays respect.. The poem “Baby
mama drama” just something I thought of at the last minute, “love Jones” was based on one of my
favorite movies. This short composition of poetry is dedicated to my entire family, and a special thanks to
my daughter Yvette l. green, for dreaming and seeing it through…“ love not one, but all.”
Thank you. Tanya Ursula green
