About the Book

The First Galactic Dynasty begins in the not too distant future, originating in the United States as it might come to pass should the more dysfunctional trends socially and governmentally develop into law and custom. It is a dictatorship but still with a highly corrupted political system of other elected officials. The system itself is run by corporations of great power. Social services, such as police and fire protection, are all privatized. The extremely wealthy corporate component of society is literally a new nobility or aristocracy, while everyone else is either a well-paid squire in their service or a serf in what has become a new kind of feudal system. Jason Preston was born into the highest position possible in this new feudal system, being the first son of Denis Preston, a self-made multibillionaire, computer genius and inventor, who along with his brother Frank has nearly displaced all the competition and market share with their innovative invention and marketing. Jason is not just another privileged rich kid, however. He is one of a new kind of human having from birth evolved far beyond any known human potential; thus one of his many quests is seeking out others like himself, but not without encountering hostile opposition and conflicts. The story is the ongoing saga of Jason Preston, an extraordinary individual who not only lives to explore the Galaxy, but is, in fact, the first and leader of many to follow toward a whole new development in human evolution and what is the near total realization of human potential and ability. It is Jason’s belief that only space travel and exploration can save mankind from its own destructive and degenerative tendencies, and can, ultimately, extend the human lifespan to the point of approaching immortality. After founding his own island principality and declaring himself Prince, he is able to bypass government red tape and bureaucracies, and proceed with his own endeavors in space, beginning with a gigantic space station, including defensive spacecraft, privately owned and capable of interstellar travel. In time the station and its defenses grow to a formidable force, not knowing what to expect once they set off across the Galaxy. Given nearly unlimited room for expansion, the station’s population of newly evolving people becomes a small nation in itself. The actual trek across the Galaxy is a continuous adventure of exploration, discovery, romance, encounters of all nature with beings of all kinds, a uniting of worlds and hostilities with others, and such challenges as a do-or-die conflict with a nearly overwhelming galactic invader. This is an incredibly long and ongoing saga, a series of books still in progress and currently totaling well over 600,000 words in over ten volumes. The first book is an introductory collection of the first three volumes, which alone total over 170,000 words, a lengthy novel in itself.

About the Author

William Monje has been a professional artist and writer his entire life, particularly working in the theatre, beginning as a set designer/scenic artist and more recently a produced playwright. As a writer he has shorter pieces of fiction and a considerable amount of nonfiction, including writing and editing for what were once referred to as "underground newspapers" back in the late sixties and through the seventies. More recently he has been writing novels of epic proportion, mostly character-driven science fiction with lots of space adventure action. All of his novels have also been formatted for the Kindle and published on Amazon. Although he is most earnestly pursuing novels, with more in progress, he has also written a number of plays for the stage and movie scripts.
